More About The Compassionate Gunner

A UNIQUE JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF FIREARMS

My introduction to firearms began at Camp Deerwoode, a summer camp in Brevard, North Carolina, at the age of twelve shooting .22 rifles. I took the rifleman’s course that summer, won a spot on the Camp Rifle Team, and so began my journey. Over the years, I’ve spent immeasurable amounts of time handling, discussing, training and shooting firearms of all kinds. I have a very diverse background, I served our country honorably in the United States Army, and have worked in Customer Relations, Law Enforcement/Security, Construction Management, Marine and Aviation industries. Regardless, if I were shooting recreationally with friends and family, or training and employing tactics for Law Enforcement/Military application I always wanted to know everything about the firearms being used. It became my PASSION…

Then one day, I’m inside a Gun Store purchasing a firearm from the “typical” Gun Store clerk (feel free to research this one, but let’s just say “lack of customer services” is going to be top of the list), when I overhear a family trying to purchase their first firearm. The husband & wife asking the other clerk questions, their pre-teen daughter bouncing around excitedly with the prospect of the newest family acquisition. The other clerk was being patient with each new question, but as the string of questions reached a myriad that patience was beginning to exhaust! I had COMPASSION for both parties…

I realized then; people might need a COMPASSIONATE GUNNER to help educate and guide them through the journey of firearm ownership. Listen to all the questions, develop together what is best suitable for their needs, walk them through the purchasing process and offer an environment for training knowing each individual is on their own unique journey into the world of firearms...
